This site will feature stories, articles, information, and links about travel. It will grow and evolve just like humans did. This is not trying to be a site about my own wonderful, oh-so-exciting travels around the world, and I’m not claiming that I’m so great as to inspire you to follow your own travel dreams just like I did. You can do that on your own.
It’s more about any travel subject that needs to be shared, which might be specific info on a destination or sight, some news or changes in the travel industry, and essays about traveling in general. I have to work on this.
My name is Tom McClive. I’m not an archetypical travel blogger who chucked his high-powered corporate or cubicle job and sold all possessions and is claiming to be a vagabond nomad while globestomping around the world. But I have been traveling for decades, high and low. Mostly low. I’ve seen a good part of the world and I have thoughts and opinions about traveling, with a bit of an attitude. Traveling is what I do, is a massive part of my identity as a person, is what I spend my time and money on, and is what I think about.
I named this site “A World of Flophouses” because I usually travel cheap, sometimes real cheap, and the places where I usually crash are utilitarian at best. All I really need in a destination is a flophouse.
